On the afternoons of September 17, October 8 and 9, 2016, all students from the International Department visited the exhibition of Dunhuang Mural paintings in the museum of NWNU. The aim of the visit was to strengthen our students’ sense of national pride and help them feel the artistic charm of Chinese culture.

Jointly organized by China Dunhuang Grottoes Conservation Research Fundation, Dunhuang Research Academy and NWNU, the exhibition presented over forty excellent Dunhuang Mural paintings copied through modern digital technology, reproducing the artistic charm of Dunhuang art that has a history of about one thousand years. During the two-hour visit, students took a closer look at Dunhuang Mural paintings, appreciated their artistic charm and felt the magnificence and extensiveness of Chinese culture. They also got to know more about Buddhism and the Silk Road through the detailed interpretation of the guide in museum. A lot of questions were asked by the students and they were discussed by students and the guide.

After the visit, all International classes summarized the visit thorough blackboard newspapers videos and class meetings. The visit was no doubt helpful for our students to have a deep understanding of Chinese culture and develop their patriotic emotions. It is the aim of our school to cultivate a new type of talents with “scientific spirit, patriotic emotion and international vision”.
