Faculty Attended Activities Backed by the Association of Six High Schools of China Held in Beijing No.35 High School

      From November 19th to 23rd, 2017, several relevant activities backed by the Association of Six High Schools of China were carried out in Beijing No.35 High School, mainly including the presentation and assessment of high-quality classes covering subjects like mathematics, PE and biology as well as the supervision and evaluation of mathematics and biology subjects of Beijing No.35 High School. Leaders and teachers’ representatives from the six high schools attended the activities, respectively Beijing No.35 High School, Harbin No.3 High School, Jiangsu Xishan Senior High School, Qing Hai Huang Chuan Senior High School, Hainan Middle School and the High School Attached to NWNU. Our school has sent eight teachers responsible for mathematics, PE and biology to take part in the activities.

      On November 20th, the supervision group first listened to the self-assessment reports of the three-year program on subject development given by heads of mathematics and biology teaching and research groups of Beijing No.35 High School. The reports were mainly delivered from six aspects, including discipline declaration, construction of teaching and research groups,  curriculum construction, school-based educational research, knowledge management and characteristics construction. Besides, the supervision group further learned about some teaching characteristics of Beijing No.35 High School, such as the layered and mobile teaching system, the group cooperation study, mathematics A Plus course teaching, six-year training modes combining junior with senior high school education and so forth. Moreover, they also went into classrooms of Beijing No.35 High School, listening to lectures and feeling the charms of the teachers and students in a much closer way.
      In the morning of November 21st, the presentation and assessment activities of high-quality classes were launched and teachers from the six high schools showed wonderful classes with excellent designs and distinct features. Wang Zhiqiang, a mathematics teacher from our school, designed his class creatively and focused on inspiring students to think positively. Our biology teacher Li Juan emphasized the training of students’ critical thinking, believing that learning to think is much more important than learning knowledge while our PE teacher Tang Ziwen left a good impression by his active thinking and enthusiastic teaching style. Our three teachers’ art of teaching received high remarks from the present experts and peers.
       In the afternoon of the same day, the work related to supervision and evaluation was conducted by supervision groups through many forms like referring to materials and interviews among teachers and students. By classifying and organizing the collected information and data and analyzing all factors in a comprehensive way, a remark on supervision and evaluation was concluded. On November 22nd, the awarding ceremony as well as the feedback meeting on supervision and evaluation of mathematics, biology and PE backed by the Association of Six High Schools of China was held. Zhang Shengqing, Executive Deputy Director of the Steering Committee of our school, also the head of the supervision group, affirmed the educational and teaching results achieved by Beijing No.35 High School in recently years and put forward reasonable suggestions for the teaching and research groups’ future development. On the awarding ceremony, Wang Zhiqiang was awarded as the best teacher in teaching design in mathematics, Li Juan as the best in teaching in biology and Tang Ziwen as the best in teaching performance in PE.
      The activities fully reflected the theme of the Association of Six Schools of China once again, which focuses on “Sharing High-quality Resources to Move Forward Hand in Hand; Establishing the Association’s Value to Take Lead in Development”. It was a great success with fruitful results by widening visions and enriching educational concepts so as to realize the goals of sharing resources, in-depth exchanges, enhancing friendship and achieving common progress.
