From Sep.2^nd to 3^rd, 2019, the Symposium on “Needs of High Schools and Responsibilities of Nanjing University in the New Era” for Principals of National Key High Schools and 2019 Opening Ceremony for New Undergraduates of Nanjing University was held in the Xianlin campus of Nanjing University. Jia Jinyuan, the principal of the High School Attached to NWNU, was invited to attend the event.       Principals from 28 key high schools of 18 provinces, municipalities or autonomous regions all over the country gathered together and had a discussion on the selection and cultivation of high-level innovative talents. Many leaders also attended the meeting, including Lv Jian, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Nanjing University and Lin Wei, Party Committee Secretary and Dean of Jiangsu Provincial Education Examination Authority, which was presided over by Wang Zhilin, Vice-president of Nanjing University.       At the meeting, Jia pointed out that at present, different learning periods, especially universities and high schools have linking problems in several aspects such as training mode and student cultivation, which requires to have further cooperation between universities and high schools. It is hoped that the High School Attached to NWNU and Nanjing University could continue to enhance cooperation in career planning of high school students, Advanced Placement program, the construction of experimental classes with characteristics and faculty training of high schools, working hand in hand to cultivate excellent students.        At that very day, the principals attending the meeting visited the Ancient Books Collection Department of Nanjing University library and the observatory. Besides, they also attended 2019 opening ceremony for new undergraduates of Nanjing University, listening to the “first course for freshmen” given by Hu Jinbo, Vice-chairman of CPPCC of Jiangsu Province and Party Committee Secretary of Nanjing University, enjoying a personal experience with the spirits and cultural heritage accumulated in the past hundred years.
