2015 Education Seminar on International Integrated Courses for High School Students Held in Chengdu No.7 High School

On May 23rd, 2015, the 2015 Education Seminar on International Integrated Courses for High School Students was held in Chengdu No.7 High School, which was organized by Secondary Education Committee of China Education Association for International Exchange and operated by Chengdu No.7 High School. Delegates from nearly 40 member schools of the Secondary Education Committee attended the meeting presided over by Wang Hongjun, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Secondary Education Committee for International Exchange and the vice-principal of Beijing No. 35 Middle School. Zhang Zhitian, Vice-director of the International Department of the High School Attached to NWNU attended the meeting on behalf of our school.
Several delegates made some keynote speeches on international integrated courses education from the theoretical and practical views, respectively including Zhou Mansheng, vice-director of the Expert Consultation Committee of Education Development Research Center of Ministry of Education; Wang Benzhong, Honorary Chairman of the High School Education Committee of the Chinese Society of Education, member of National Education Consultation Committee, member of National Education Examination Expert Guidance Committee and Dean of Beijing Shengtao Institute of Education Development and Innovation; Liu Guowei, Principal of Chengdu No.7 High School; Zhu Jianmin, Secretary-General of the Secondary Education Committee for International Exchange and Beijing No. 35 Middle School and Zong Wa, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Secondary Education Committee for International Exchange. Besides, seven teachers from Chengdu No. 7 High School vividly gave five special lectures to guests, showing what the international integrated education course is, for example, AP Calculus------ the Application of Calculus in Life (co-given by foreign teachers and Chinese teachers), American Separation of Powers (co-given by politics and history teachers) and theme class meetings with titles of “To Youth” and “ ‘From Cooperation to a Win-win Result’ International Courses for Quality Development: Simulation Transaction of Crude Oil Futures”.
The exploration of international integrated courses for high school students focuses on learning valuable elements from domestic and foreign excellent course systems to promote the education reform in high schools in the process of improving the international development of education, which intends to broaden the students’ visions and improve the students’ sustainable development capabilities. On one hand, the students can achieve outstanding performance recognized internationally and on the other hand, the schools can consequently accumulate rich experience for domestic high schools in implementing and managing international courses.
