On the invitation of our school, Mao Kaifu, Head of Science and Technology Office of Gansu Province Department of Education, Guo Shaoqing, Doctoral Supervisor and Dean of College of Education Technology of NWNU, together with Wang Xiong, a teacher also from College of Education Technology of NWNU visited our school to carry out a quality acceptance of room for cloud computers construction project and Maker-lab center on June 3rd 2016. Our principal Jia Jinyuan, vice-principals Gou Xiaofeng and Jing Xiaomin as well as members from our school’s information construction team attended the review meeting.
     Our vice-principal Gou Xiaofeng presided over the meeting and introduced the construction situation of room for cloud computers and Maker-lab center in a brief way. Besides, the building contractor and some relevant offices delivered a report on construction and its initial acceptance. After the meeting, these experts entered our room for cloud computers and Maker-lab center for a practical investigation and an unanimous agreement has been achieved that the construction can be accepted because it has met the technological needs and all the devices can be operated stably and smoothly so that it can meet the teaching requirements of our school.
                                 
                                                                   Experts in a practical investigation of our room for cloud computers
      The Room for cloud computers refer to a computer room with distributed clustering servers in the support of cloud technology. The desktop solution applied in our cloud computer room is able to solve several prevalent problems arising in ordinary computer rooms thoroughly, such as the construction cost, use cost, maintenance cost and management cost. On the condition of adequate hard-wares applied in the computer room, it can sync and share a cloud server to numbers of students. The completed cloud computer room consists of 70 client computers and a Lenovo server with server operating system and the installation of navigation system, which can help users to install server systems in a simpler and smarter way. It has been equipped with touch-sensitive electronic whiteboards, which can satisfy our school’s demand for network marking, academic proficiency test and daily teaching activities. The cloud computer room makes it possible to deploy same desktop on many students’ computers in batch in an automatic way in accordance with the virtual machine template so as to realize the terminal management in the same user interface. It is more convenient for teachers to operate the computer, including switching on and off, restarting, receiving messages, changing server, upgrading source management, setting seat numbers, associating with the desktop and DHCP configuration, which is a perfect way to solve some technological problems related to teachers’ preparation for lessons, the realization of interaction between teachers and students as well as assignment submission. It is a great exploration and innovation for our school in the information construction with the combination of Internet Plus, cloud computing and other technologies.

     The Maker-lab center now is equipped with 3D printer, 3D scanner, robot competition suit and  programmable electronic devices resembling robots as well as other devices. It has provided a good platform for our students to carry out investigative studies and comprehensive innovative activities, playing an important role in promoting the students’ exploration ability, cooperative ability and innovative ability. Our school will continue to improve the teaching facilities and organize students to conduct activities and some selective courses like 3D Innovation and Design and How to Build and Program a Robot have been offered. In the Maker-lab center, the students can touch and experience much more future emerging technologies, which can help to broaden the students’ visions and develop their innovative and creative spirit with a constant enhancement of technological qualities in order to realize the comprehensive but individual development of our students.
