Zhang Bo, the First Chinese to Fly Around the World, Came to His Alma Mater to Give a Report: to Seek, Pursue and Realize a Dream

On the afternoon of October 11, Zhang Bo, who graduated from the High School Attached to NWNU in 1983 and now is chief teacher of the International Elite Class of the High School Attached to NWNU and the first Chinese to fly around the world, returned to his alma mater with the rest of the flight team to give a report. The meeting was attended by Chen Kegong, Secretary of Party Committee of NWNU, Zhang Shengyong, Vice Principal of NWNU, Lin Ximing, President of Gansu Yongkun Real Estate Co., Ltd, Jia Jinyuan, Principal of the High School Attached to NWNU, Wang Wenhuai, Secretary of Party Committee and Vice Principal, Yang Deling, Director of News Center of Gansu Radio & TV Group, Yan Shide, Director of the Department of News Investigation of Lanzhou Morning Post, Liu Guocai, Vice-Secretary of Party Committee, Gou Xiaofeng, Vice Principal, Jing Xiaomin, Vice Principal, the flight team and all teachers and students.
Before the meeting, Jia Jinyuan, on behalf of the High School Attached to NWNU, expressed warmest congratulation to Zhang Bo and his team on their success of the around world flight, and summarized and interpreted Zhang Bo’s flight with our school motto of diligence, cautiousness, honesty and courage. He also hoped that all students could learn from Zhang Bo to be diligent, innovative and outstanding and that they could realize their own dreams and the great Chinese dream.
Bao Yutong, a student from the International Elite Class of our school, made a speech in Chinese and English, expressing that all students would follow the example of Zhang Bo to explore new possibilities and face up to difficulties. Lin Ximing, starting from the experience of pursuing a dream, spoke highly of Zhang Bo’s flight. He said that the High School Attached to NWNU was Zhang Bo’s starting point, and hoped that all students could study hard and realize their dreams.
During his report, Zhang Bo shared his experiences, flight route, exciting and adventurous stories as well as challenges and difficulties of the around world flight. He also explained that his courage of being innovative and braving the hardship came from the High School Attached to NWNU. It was the education he had received from the High School Attached to NWNU that helped him in accomplishing the flight and becoming the first Chinese to fly around the world. Zhang Bo’s report was applauded by all.
At the end of the report, Zhang Bo gave the flag he took with him during the flight to his alma mater and Jia Jinyuan, on behalf of our shcool, presented Zhang Bo with souvenir. The meeting concluded successfully with the theme song of Fly with Your Dream and the school song of the High School Attached to NWNU.
