Students of the International Classes Won Major Awards in the National High School Debate League of China (NHSDLC) Held in Lanzhou

From November 19th to 20th, 2016, the students of the international classes in our school participated the 2016 National High School Debate League of China (NHSDLC) held in Lanzhou, among whom many performed excellently and won many major awards.
After two days’ of fierce competition, participants in seven teams from our school have been qualified in the 16 team-konckout stage, among which ten students, including Ren Jiayi, Lu Ruijie, Bao Yutong, Fan Sizhe, Gao Zhirun, Jiao Ziteng, Zhong Zhiwei, Dong Yunke, Hao Jiacheng and Zhang Jingzhi, have finally managed to be the last 16 contestants; while Ma Ruilin and Huang Yichen were qualified in the last eight and Wang Rui and Wang Wuxiong, after fierce competition, have claimed two places in the last four. When selecting the five best debaters, Wang Rui ranked the fifth and Dong Yunke the third, which means they are qualified to participate the National Championship in this season.
Established in 2011, the National High School Debate League of China (NHSDLC) attracts over 300 well-known senior high schools from more than 30 cities of China every year, it is regarded as the largest foreign language debate league for senior high school students in China. The debate competition held in Lanzhou has attracted a number of senior high schools from Lanzhou, Yinchuan, Chengdu and other regions to participate in. With the topic of “urbanization in China has done more good than harm”, the participants from our international classes, under the guidance of their teachers, made a large amount of preparations and hot discussion before the competition and they have successfully showed their abilities on thinking and debating as well as strong foundation of English knowledge, which were highly appreciated by the judges of the debate competition.
