The Appointment Ceremony and the Training Session for Foreign Teachers Held in the High School Attached to NWNU

On the afternoon of Nov. 26^th, 2020, the Appointment Ceremony of Foreign Teachers and the Training Session for Foreign Teachers were held at the meeting room on the first floor of the International Department of the High School Attached to NWNU, which were attended by officials from the Foreigners Administration Section of Exit-Entry Administration Division of Lanzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, including Cai Licheng, the section chief of the Foreigners Administration Section, Hou Yun, the section chief of the Visa Affairs Section, Hou Chunyu, deputy section chief of the Foreigners Administration Section as well as Zhu Yihong, Police Supervisor of the Foreigners Administration Section, together with leaders from the High School Attached to NWNU, such as the Principal Jia Jinyuan, the Director of International Department Sun Liang and the Deputy Director Wang Zhiqiang, Li Zhongxin, the deputy director of International Education Service Center and Zhao Wenbin, the deputy director of Grade Division, the International Department. Besides, three foreign teachers named Chancellor Roberts, Drachenberg Bryce James, and Vasquez Becerra Eduardo Antonio respectively also attended the appointment ceremony, which was presided over by Sun Liang, the director of International Department.

At first, Mr. Jia introduced the status quo of foreign teachers and how the International Department has been running in the High School Attached to NWNU, suggesting that the faculty engaged in the International classes is familiar with their jobs and is featured by all-round qualities and has the overseas learning or training experience approved by the College Board (USA). What’s more, those teachers know quite well about the international education regulations and requirements for standardized tests. Except for those teachers belonging to the high school, the school also appointed more than 20 returnees and scholars with doctor’s degrees from many universities like Northwest Normal University as well as foreign teachers from USA, UK or other countries as staffs responsible for teaching. Jia expressed his best wishes to foreign teachers, hoping they are excellent in teaching, capable of management, healthy and have a harmonious relationship with others. Later, Jia presented the letters of appointment and souvenirs to the three foreign teachers.

And then, Cai Licheng and Hou Yun, the two section chiefs from Foreigners Administration Section and Visa Affairs Section of Exit-Entry Administration Division of Lanzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, respectively gave training lectures on the management and security of foreigners along with visa issues and explained in detail how to deal with some possible problems faced by foreign teachers living in Lanzhou. At last, the deputy director Wang Zhiqiang introduced the daily management regulations for foreign teachers in school.

After the training, the foreign teachers has increased their safety awareness and understood some relevant policies.
