The Launching Ceremony of the 4th “CTPH Cup” National Young Interpreters’ Competition in Gansu Province was held in the High School Attached to NWNU

On October 27th, 2018, the launching ceremony of the 4th “CTPH Cup” National Young Interpreters’ Competition in Gansu Province was solemnly held in the High School Attached to NWNU.
At the launching ceremony, the organizing committee specially invited Zhang Bo, a host of CCTV's foreign language channel, to support the “CTPH Cup” National Young Interpreters’ Competition in Gansu province by giving a lecture entitled "Does Foreign Language Really Not Need to Be 'Learned' ?”for some high school students in Grade one and their parents who came to attend the launching ceremony. The lecture was given in a funny and humorous way and the English learning methods mentioned in the speech were widely accepted by students. Favorable remarks have been received from both the parents and teachers of the high school because of the positive interactions and warm atmosphere. Applause and laughter never stopped during the lecture.
With the combination of his own experiences, such as from his failure and sadness in his first time of taking part in the English speech contest, to winning numerous awards in large-scale competitions like CCTV English speech contest, and then to how to learn Arabic after being admitted to Beijing International Studies University, Zhang Bo shared eight misunderstandings, four directions in English leaning and many English learning methods from aspects of "teaching, learning, examination and usage" of English. He encouraged our students to take correct attitudes towards English learning, acquire scientific learning methods, cultivate interests in English learning, try to create a language learning environment, pay attention to vocal corpus practice, strengthen listening, speaking and translation training, adhere to practicing in high standards and effectively improve their abilities in English expression, providing great benefits to the audience. At the same time, at the end of the lecture, Zhang Bo signed and presented his book named How to Learn Foreign Language Well to the students who participated in the interaction part.
Xu Lin, a member of the National Organizing Committee of the “CTPH Cup” National Young Interpreters’ Competition, entrusted Yan Hua from the Gansu Organizing Committee to introduce the original intention, achievements and awards of the competition. The 4th“CTPH Cup” National Young Interpreters’Competition in Gansu province was officially launched witnessed by Zhang Bo, Vice Principal Jing Xiaomin, Yan Hua and other teachers, students and their parents present.
