Experience Diversified Culture and Participate in the Dialogue Among World Civilizations------the 12th World Carnival Held in the School

      October suggests the advent of the autumn, which witnessed the grand opening of the 12th World Carnival of the High School Attached to NWNU in the school’s stadium and playground in the afternoon of October 19th . More than 1000 Senior One students and teachers took part in the event and nearly 1000 student parents also watched the event.

      The Principal, Jia Jinyuan, addressed the opening ceremony of the carnival and pointed out that with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of founding the People’s Republic of China, the young students should embrace the whole world and the beautiful future from a new perspective. He also stressed that in a new situation, all the students of the high school should meet the new requirements of being possessed with “scientific spirit, humanism, love of China and international vision”, hoping that students could be motivated with a clash of different civilizations as well as keep confident of Chinese culture in the dialogue among world civilizations.

      The theme of the carnival was to experience diversified culture and participate in the dialogue among world civilizations. 24 classes in Senior One selected 24 countries all over the world to make presentations covering areas of geography, humanities, food, architecture, art, politics, literature, economy and so forth. By deeply exploring the culture of each country, the students had made the presentations in a vivid way.

      The energetic Indian dances became the spotlight of the whole show while the lovely Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck made the audience burst into laughter. A beautiful Danish song called Once Upon a Time brought the audience into a dreamlike scene and A Golden Age of Sail, a splendid stage performance showed the development history of Portugal as a navigation power. A traditional Chinese-style song named Nuo was an ode to etiquette which China is famous for. Different elements were involved in the show including the football in Germany, the bullfighting in Spain and the music in Austria as well as Japanese sushi, Russian bread, Brazilian barbecue, which helped to make the carnival a feast for your palate. Besides, the campus become prettier with the decorations of maple leaves in Canada, windmills in Holland, and candlesticks in Italy. The teachers and students with their carnival passes in hands, just like passports, enjoyed the colorful activities.
